Led Zeppelin 2008 tour confirmed?

Posted by Ian on Nov 21 2007 | General

I just found this article on the NME website. It says that Ian Astbury of The Cult has announced that him and his band have been asked to support Led Zeppelin in some dates next year! Exciting stuff!

Check it out: heeeeeeeeeeeeere

Also, in slightly older but exciting news, Led Zeppelin are supposedly going to be playing a brand new song at the December 10th concert. Bling Bling and indeed Bling.

MWAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

After nostalgically searching for ‘What’s on God’s ipod’ in google this morning, I was surprised and delighted in equal measures that our little gbomb has proliferated once again. OK, so not in it’s previous glory of top result, but in an undoubtedly impressive second place…which isn’t bad at all seeing as it was wiped out completely at the start of the week.

Mwahahaaa haaa haaaa mwahahaaa.

A new home for the official site.

The official Led Zeppelin website can now be found at www.ledzeppelin.com rather than www.led-zeppelin.com so drop that hyphen if you want to navigate to official-land from now on.

News on Tues.

Posted by Ian on Nov 20 2007 | General

The official Led Zeppelin website now has a brilliant timeline under the ‘Tour Itinerary’ section of the site. It features every gig Led Zeppelin ever played and some rare handbills and ticket stubs from these respective concerts. It’s well worth a look and should grow over the upcoming months. Have a look: Here!

Also a number of well known musical stars have stated their love and the undoubted importance of Led Zeppelin in a piece compiled by Yahoo. Dave Grohl and other ‘rock’ stars like er, Lenny Kravitz and um Wyclef Jean state their love for the Zep. Well worth a read if you have a sec though. ‘Avva looka ‘dis: ‘ere

Also, for all you US readers, ‘The Song Remains The Same’ will be showing in American cinemas, throughout 50 states on 27 November in all its digitally remastered glory. So if you’re interested, keep an ear to the ground.

Apparently, Jimmy Page also hinted at further Led Zeppelin shows in the new Guitar World magazine, haven’t read it yet, but I’ll check up on this.

Want your kids to be Zep fans? How about a Swan Song all-in-one?!

There’s a pun in there somewhere?!

A new week, a new onslaught of Zep

Posted by Ian on Nov 19 2007 | General

So today is the day that The Song remains the same CD and DVD are released, I haven’t got mine yet, but am pretty excited about seeing some of the new features, footage and remastered audio.

ta daaaa…

Owners of Blu Ray and HD will have to suffer for your hi-tech art and wait until versions for your respective formats are released next monday.

There seem to be lots of rumours flying around about follow up Led Zeppelin gigs and tours next year, although nobody wants to have their hopes dashed…it’s always a possibility…noone expected that they’d do a proper full band live show again…so fingers crossed eh?

OK so Google seems to have cracked down and eradicated our Googlebomb. ‘What’s on God’s ipod?’ and a top result of themothership.com lasted but only a few short sweet days…but alas the time has come for its end…well done though guys, we did get it there!

There’s a chance to win a mothership CD and T-shirt here

Also, I’m pleased to say that thezep.net and our campaigns are beginning to get noticed on the internet radar. A website put us as number 8 in their top 10 virals of last week. This is measured by growth, use and the amount of people using it…mainly on the use of the netdisaster feature…which is brilliant to see…

Check it out: here

I’d like to mention that the press we have got so far has been wrong on one thing…They mention the netdisaster as the main tool by Rhino Records to promote the release of the Mothership and our blog being set up to support it…For the record I would like to say that the Led Zeppelin Netdisaster was organised by the team behind thezep.net with the kind folks at Netdisaster FOR thezep.net and our mission to ‘Zeppelise’ the web…Although this coverage is amazing and the Led Zep disaster is receiving a lot of attention, I thought I’s just like to take this opportunity to SETTT THE RECORRRRD STRAIIIGGGHHHTTTTTTTTTT…

Led Zep launch catalogue on iTunes

Posted by admin on Nov 16 2007 | General

Yes, and they even got a bigger slot than Steve Jobs on the Apple homepage yesterday! And just in case the tears of excitement are clouding your vision – we’ve blown up their banner so you can marvel at it (even comes with official Apple drop shadow effect).

More friendly bombs, but in Zeppelin form…

Posted by Ian on Nov 15 2007 | General

OK, so legend has it that Keith Moon and John Entwistle of The Who said that a potential supergroup containing them, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck would go down like a Lead Zeppelin…and hence, unintentionally naming what would be come arguably the biggest rock band of all time…

The netdisaster is possibly the kind of imaginary picture that the late drummer and bassist invisaged…but obviously they would be smashing through a wireless or something, it was the 60’s after all. Also, ‘Immigrant Song’ hadn’t been written yet so it must have been smashing through the wireless to the tune of something else…Like Pink Floyd or The Stones…or possibly a Who song had they held themselves in such high esteem…

Anyway, that’s besides the point. What I’m actually writing to point out is that I’m thoroughly pleased and equally overwhelmed by how amazingly the Netdisaster has taken off…It’s getting so many hits a day that a technically minded friend added the official crash count that you can see to your right———>

We made a video montage of some netdisaster action and put it on youtube, interestingly enough a fan of netdisaster has made his own video, featuring our lovely Led Zeppelin version…we’ll put them permanently up on the ‘Zeppelise your site’ section…

find them here:

Also, Paulo Nutini, the act supporting Zep at the o2 Arena has the netdisaster permanently applied to his official website, and so does the Rhino Records page, check these:

and alright, just to make sure it stays there: What’s on God’s ipod?

Boom! Bang! Come friendly bombs…

Well, well, well, the Led Zeppelin militia has been very busy indeed…it looks like phase two of the plan to Zeppelise the web has come into form. Here’s the proof…

Sorry it’s small…put your reading glasses on! you’ll see that the mothership website is the top result when searching ‘What’s on God’s ipod?’! Excellent, well done everyone…This works on one computer but comes up as the second highest result on another which is strange…what happens for everybody else? Let’s hope for a uniform top result soon!

once more for luck:

What’s on God’s ipod?

Hmmm…Interesting…

I found this on ebay…a classic ‘Echochord super 76 reverb and tape delay unit’…a pretty nice looking bit of classic effects equipment (just nod politely and pretend that you know what it does!). But interestingly the seller says that this was owned and used by Led Zeppelin, and personally given to him by John Paul Jones…I’m not sure if there’s any way of proving this, the seller might answer any queries if you ask him…If you have a big wad of cash, you could be in for winning I suppose…
